Most people spend weeks scrolling Alibaba and still end up messaging the wrong factories. There’s a filter for this. Here’s mine, and five suppliers I pulled with it.
These are not my personal suppliers or factory relationships. I found these listings through Alibaba research. Treat them as leads worth investigating, not endorsements.
Always message the supplier, confirm your exact specs, get samples, and do your own due diligence before bulk production. Supplier ratings, badges, MOQs, pricing, and lead times can change.
Every listing gets run through this before I message anyone.
Passing the filter does not mean a supplier is automatically good. It means they are worth messaging and testing.
Five listings that passed my first screen, and why each one caught my attention.
Why I picked them: Strong reviews, good communication, 98%+ on-time dispatch, drawing-based customization, and a long Alibaba history. I also like the Dongguan location. In my experience, pricing there can often be competitive.
View supplier (Wens Fashion, opens in a new tab)Why I picked them: Large buyer history, drawing-based customization, repeat customers, and experience with more developed streetwear products. Their on-time dispatch is weaker than some of the others, so I would confirm timelines before sampling.
View supplier (Ruyi, opens in a new tab)Why I picked them: They show more complicated color blocking and construction. If they can execute the complicated stuff, simpler designs should be within their wheelhouse. They are also listed as a manufacturer, not a trading company.
View supplier (Xinsheng, opens in a new tab)Why I picked them: They specialize in headwear instead of trying to make everything. They also show full customization, sample-based customization, raw-material inspection, and quality traceability.
View supplier (Lynguu, opens in a new tab)Why I picked them: Their product photos look current. They appear to understand washes, oversized silhouettes, and the vintage streetwear aesthetic. Their 36% reorder rate also stands out.
View supplier (Yuchen, opens in a new tab)I met Healy at the Canton Fair and later visited their showroom in Guangzhou. They specialize in jerseys, but after seeing the showroom in person, it was clear they can do much more.
Their showroom materials show cooperation logos including Under Armour, Red Bull, New Era, SOCCER.COM, Robey, Uhlsport, Juventus, FC Groningen, and Willem II Tilburg, among others.

Send your mock-up with this message. Attach the JPEG or PNG you created using the Starter Tech Pack. They need to see what you are trying to make before they can give you a meaningful quote.
Message multiple suppliers at the same time, and run two samples at the same time. Don’t develop one sample with one supplier and wait. Develop two in parallel so you can compare them side by side and decide who deserves your production order.
Keep payments on Alibaba whenever possible and use Trade Assurance when it applies. Make sure your agreed specs, quantity, price, and lead time are written into the order so you have a clear paper trail if you need to dispute something.
The real work is finding the right factory, communicating what you want, selecting the right fabric, and developing samples.
That’s the difference between getting a top-tier product manufactured in China or ending up with junk.
